Danny Scarborough Scholarship

Danny ScarboroughDanny Scarborough was the founder, choreographer, and director of the San Diego State University Black Repertory Total Theatrical Experience from 1977 to 1987. Scarborough had been an Associate Professor of Africana Studies at San Diego State University. He received an Emmy in 1978 from the Academy for Television Arts and Sciences in San Diego.

The value of each scholarship and the number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the scholarship committee.

Eligibility: Open to currently enrolled SDSU students who are Africana Studies majors or minor and must maintain a minimum 2.50 overall GPA. Students are NOT required to be enrolled full-time.

Shirley Wade Thomas Memorial

Shirley Wade ThomasA professor in the Afro-American Studies department from 1972 until her death in 1988, Dr. Thomas was a popular figure in the city's black community and a widely recognized expert in the field of black child development.

Eligibility: Open to currently enrolled SDSU students who are Africana Studies majors or minor and must maintain a minimum 2.50 overall GPA. Students are NOT required to be enrolled full-time. Continuing SDSU students only. Recipients must have declared an Africana Studies major at least one semester prior to submitting a scholarship application.
